The best way to cook a frozen pizza

Friends, I just discovered a way to cook a frozen pizza so that it tastes like it came out of a pizza oven.

My life has been filled with disappointing frozen and take & bake pizzas. They’re always burned or undercooked or sometimes even burned and undercooked. The promise of frozen pizza has always been “just as good as the delivery places” but that promise has never been delivered on until now.

First, you’ll need an oven and pizza stone. Just a regular old oven, not a fancy pizza oven.

Second, thaw your pizza out to room temperature. Let nature take it’s course…don’t put a frozen pizza in the oven.

Third, preheat your oven to 550 degrees. Yes, 550. We’re cooking hot. Ignore all that BS you’ve been fed all your life regarding following the cooking instructions on the packaging.

Forth, put your pizza stone into the oven without any pizza. Let the pizza stone heat itself up for 20 minutes.

Finally, when the oven’s at 550 degrees and your pizza stone has had time to absorb the heat, place your room temperature pizza in the oven for approximately 4-7 minutes. It will cook quickly so keep an eye on it.

Once it looks cooked, remove it while keeping it on the pizza stone and let it rest and cool outside of the oven. It will stay very hot because it’s still on the pizza stone, this will continue to bake the bottom of the crust to perfection.

tl;dr Summary

  • Thaw out frozen pizza to room temperature.
  • Heat oven to 550 degrees.
  • Preheat pizza stone for 20 minutes.
  • Cook in over for 4 to 7 minutes.
  • Remove from oven to cool while still on pizza stone.
